Festive Season Closure

The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption and the Office for Public Integrity will close for the festive season at 4.30pm on Friday 23 December 2016.

The Office for Public Integrity will be open to receive complaints and reports from 9.00am Tuesday 3 January 2016.

Public statement: prosecution pending

As a result of an investigation by the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption a 44-year-old man has been charged with one count of making a false declaration under the Oaths Act 1936.

The matter will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday 1 December 2016

Media release: JCC doors opening 5 December

The office of the Judicial Conduct Commissioner will commence operations on Monday 5 December 2016.

The office will receive complaints about the conduct of serving judicial officers.

Commissioner Lander’s appointment as the JCC will run concurrently with his appointment as the ICAC.

The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, the Hon. Bruce Lander QC will visit Mount Gambier Friday 25 November as part of his regional education program.

Public Statement: prosecutions pending

The Commissioner has released a public statement regarding charges laid against two people, following an investigation by his office.

A 61-year-old woman, a public officer, has been charged with 74 counts of abuse of public office. A 62-year-old man, who is not a public officer, has been charged with aiding and abetting the abuse of public office in relation to the same alleged offences.

Commissioner to appear before Parliamentary Committee

On Monday 31 October the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption will appear before the Crime and Public Integrity Policy Committee (CPIPC).

The CPIPC is one of a range of accountability measures over the Commissioner’s office. The Commissioner will make an opening statement to the committee and then take questions regarding the operations and performance of his office and the Office for Public Integrity.

The committee will meet at 10am at Parliament House.

Media release: The ICAC to visit Port Lincoln

The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, the Hon. Bruce Lander QC, will be in Port Lincoln 6 – 7 October to speak to public officers as part of his regional education program.

The Commissioner will deliver two sessions to public officers employed in state and local government. The sessions will address the role and functions of the ICAC, and the types of conduct that must be reported to the Office for Public Integrity (OPI).

Media release: ICAC Appointed Judicial Conduct Commissioner

Today the government announced that the South Australian Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, the Hon. Bruce Lander QC, has been appointed the Judicial Conduct Commissioner.

The Judicial Conduct Commissioner Bill was introduced into Parliament by the Attorney-General on 18 May 2015. It subsequently received the support of both Houses.

Public Statement: Prosecution pending

As a result of a joint investigation between ICAC and the Anti-Corruption Branch of SAPOL, a 36-year-old Modbury woman was arrested on 17 May 2016.

The public officer has been charged with five counts of abuse of public office and five counts of aggravated theft.

Why should you report corruption?

If you are a public officer you should report corruption because you have a mandatory obligation to do so. However, even if you did not have an obligation by law, a sense of justice, fairness and integrity should motivate you to report this type of conduct. And if all that fails to resonate, then you should do it because ultimately it is in your own best interests to do so.
