Research reports

Understanding public administration, the risks, the challenges and the learnings.

In line with the Commissioner’s function to prevent or minimise corruption, misconduct and maladministration, the ICAC undertakes research about public administration and the way it is governed.

The Commissioner will publish that research if she thinks it serves her prevention function and is in the public interest.

University Integrity Survey 2020

In March 2020, the ICAC conducted a survey of public officers from South Australia’s three public universities. More than 3,200 respondents from the University of Adelaide, Flinders University and the University of South Australia shared their thoughts, perceptions and experiences of corruption and inappropriate conduct within their university.

The ICAC University Integrity Survey 2020 builds upon the ICAC Public Integrity Survey 2018 — which received responses from more than 12,000 public officers across South Australia — and helps complete our understanding of the attitudes and experiences of public officers as regards corruption and inappropriate conduct in South Australian public administration.

Public Integrity Survey 2018

In April 2018 the former Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, the Hon. Bruce Lander QC, conducted a survey which sought to better understand state and local government employee’s attitudes and perceptions towards corruption and inappropriate conduct.

The survey received 12,656 responses from public officers across South Australia.

Commissioner Lander published three reports on the findings of his Public Integrity Survey 2018. The reports highlight a range of issues, all of which should act as a catalyst for public authorities to review their operations.
