An integral member of the Office for Public Integrity (OPI), the Investigation Specialist is responsible for the independent oversight of police conduct investigations conducted by various sections of SA Police. 

Identifying investigative issues and liaising with SA Police investigators, the Investigation Specialist recommends to the Director OPI the giving of directions to those conducting police conduct investigations. Additionally, the Investigation

Specialist provides expert advice to the Director OPI and Assessment Officers, and prepares accurate and succinct reports and briefings to the Director OPI and Independent Commissioner Against Corruption in relation to complaints and reports concerning SA Police.

The OPI is responsible to the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption for the performance of its functions and staff of the OPI are employed under the Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Act.

Special conditions

To be successful in the role you must be able to demonstrate:

  • Tertiary qualifications in policing.
  • Demonstrated experience in carrying out law enforcement or workplace conduct disciplinary investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide written recommendations on complex matters in a clear, timely and accurate manner.

Applicants may be required to undergo psychometric profiling. 

Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a statutory declaration verifying their statement of claims.
