About ICAC

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is an independent statutory body established to promote integrity within South Australian public administration. ICAC investigates reports of alleged corruption within public administration and actively prevents corruption by undertaking evaluations of the practices, policies and procedures of public agencies. ICAC also delivers education programs which seek to guide the conduct of public officers in the South Australian public sector.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager Legal and Prevention, the Legal Officer is responsible for providing high-quality legal advice to support the statutory functions of ICAC. The Legal Officer assists ICAC to identify and respond to strategic issues associated with the discharge of its statutory functions. The incumbent is expected to exercise their own judgement in carrying out their legal duties, subject to supervision from time to time.

Reporting to the Manager Legal and Prevention, the Senior Legal Officer is responsible for the provision of timely high-quality legal advice to support the statutory functions of ICAC. The Senior Legal Officer assists ICAC to identify and respond to strategic legal issues associated with the discharge of its statutory functions and provides guidance to Legal Officers. Success in the role is underpinned by the ability to work in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

To be successful in the role you must possess:

• Bachelor of Laws or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Demonstrated ability to provide legal advice regarding the discharge of statutory powers.
• Ability to provide legal advice in relation to the enforcement of the criminal law.
• Capacity to identify trends and issues of relevance to ICAC in the discharge of its statutory functions, and to make recommendations accordingly.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written legal advice on matters of moderate complexity in a clear, timely and accurate manner.
• Demonstrated ability to distil legal concepts into appropriately worded policies and processes.
• Willingness to undertake professional advancement through participation in continuing legal education.

ICAC can elect to waive the citizenship requirement, subject to the applicant having appropriate working rights in Australia (such as permanent residency). The Role

The Strategic Research and Data Analyst is an integral member of the Investigations team.  The role supports the ICAC’s research functions by developing high quality objective, accurate and responsive outputs as a result of evidence-based observations and analysis of complex information, culminating in the making of recommendations that provide insights to inform ICAC’s investigation and prevention initiatives. The Strategic Research and Data Analyst will work with the Manager Intelligence to identify and access structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, dependent upon availability. Success in the role is underpinned by excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

To be successful in the role you must possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in data science or related studies, or demonstrated equivalent experience in research.
• Demonstrated ability to research and analyse information utilising a range of data analysis tools, forecast trends, identify issues and use astute and sound judgement.
• Experience in working independently and efficiently to identify, collect, interrogate, integrate and conduct quality assurance and integration of complex data.
• Demonstrated skills in information software systems and databases, with strong attention to detail and curiosity to understand data.
• High level interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain professional relationships and engage key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to critically analyse complex and voluminous amounts of information to identify and summarise the key points including trends and patterns.
