Investigations

The purpose of an investigation is to find out what happened

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) investigates allegations of corruption in South Australian public administration.

ICAC cannot directly receive reports or commence an investigation on its own initiative. The Commission can only commence an investigation if the matter has been referred to it by the Office for Public Integrity (OPI).

If you have seen or heard of conduct that you think could be corruption in public administration, we strongly encourage you to make a report to the OPI. If the OPI assesses your report as raising a potential issue of corruption, it will refer it to ICAC.

After receiving a report from the OPI, the Commission can then commence an investigation or refer the matter to South Australia Police (or another law enforcement agency) for investigation.
