The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption to conduct ICAC education sessions in Ceduna
18 November 2015
The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption, the Hon. Bruce Lander QC, will be in Ceduna on Wednesday 25 November to speak to public officers about the role and functions of his office.
The Commissioner’s visit is part of a regional education program. The Independent Commissioner Against Corruption Act 2012 (the ICAC Act) requires the Commissioner to facilitate an education program aimed at eliminating or minimising corruption, misconduct and maladministration in South Australian public administration.
Commissioner Lander will deliver two sessions to public officers in the region.
The first session will be presented in the Ceduna Memorial Hall on Wednesday morning. The session is aimed at public officers employed in local and state government agencies in Ceduna and Streaky Bay. Contractors to local government or state government agencies, and members of the public are also invited to attend.
The second session is specifically for the elected members of the District Council of Ceduna and the District Council of Streaky Bay. It will be held on Wednesday afternoon in the Ceduna Council Chambers.
In the sessions the Commissioner will address the role and functions of his office, and will explain the types of behavior that must be reported to the Office for Public Integrity.
“There is still some confusion for public officers about what their obligations are, and how they are affected by my office,” said Commissioner Lander.
“These sessions assist regional public officers in understanding their role in our integrity system.”
If you are interested in attending the Wednesday morning session you can register on the ICAC website at: https://icac.sa.gov.au/events
