Review of legislative scheme governing complaints about public administration

On 31 October 2014, Commissioner Lander announced he would undertake a review of the legislative schemes governing the oversight and management of complaints about police, and complaints and reports about public administration in South Australia.

Discussion paper

In February 2015, Commissioner Lander released a discussion paper outlining issues relevant to the review, and made a call for submissions. Submissions closed on 27 March 2015. Public hearings were held on 23, 24, and 28 April 2015.

Final report

Commissioner Lander determined to conduct the legislative reviews in public. His final report was published on 30 June 2015 and contained 29 recommendations to address problems in the existing system, particularly in relation to delay, duplication, complexity and formality.
