Responsible officer training
All responsible officers appointed under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2018 (PID Act) are required to undertake the Independent Commission Against Corruption's Responsible Officer Training.
Responsible officers play an important role in administering the PID Act.
Responsible officers’ duties include receiving disclosures of public interest information, making recommendations to principal officers in relation to disclosures, and advising fellow staff about the public interest disclosure scheme.
Who can apply?
This training is available for public officers who are to be designated as responsible officers under the PID Act.
The Public Interest Disclosure Regulations 2019 require that persons designated as responsible officers must have completed this training course, which has been approved by the Commissioner.
What will the training include?
The 2.5 hour training course will address:
- The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2018
- ICAC's Public Interest Disclosure Guidelines
- The role of responsible officers in the scheme
- Appropriate handling and protection of informants
- Cultures of disclosure in public administration.
