5 reports tabled in Parliament
27 August 2024
Five reports produced by the Commission have been tabled in Parliament this afternoon.
The Inside Advantage: Managing corruption risks in recruitment processes involving internal candidates looks at ways to strengthen impartiality and transparency in recruitment processes that involve internal candidates.
The Gatekeepers: Corruption risks with ministerial advisors makes six recommendations to strengthen the recruitment, induction, training, governance and accountability of ministerial staff.
When duty calls, who is responding? examines the reluctance of police officers to provide affidavits to Commission investigators in matters involving the conduct of other police officers.
The third and final report in the Commission’s Grants administration project offers general observations on grants management and raises some areas of potential reform for public sector grants governance.
A Dependent Commission Against Corruption examines the problems that arise from the inability of the Commission to refer matters directly to the Director of Public Prosecutions, or even to communicate with the Director’s officers regarding an investigation.
The Commissioner said that the changes to the ICAC Act in 2021 mean that “the Commission is the only body in South Australia expressly prohibited from bringing information about alleged crime to the attention of the Director. It makes the Commission the only integrity and anti-corruption agency in Australia to be precluded from directly briefing the prosecuting authority.”
